Project Description

We worked to develop and source the Richard Schultz Topiary Collection of outdoor furniture. This design was particularly challenging to get into production due to the limited number of punches a single stamping machine can hold. The innovative solution was to develop a seemingly random pattern from one set of standard punch shapes. The bulk of the product development took place in developing this pattern while working hand in hand with sheet metal fabricators.

The Richard Schultz Topiary chair collection also utilized only bent sheets of metal for its main structure. This is an achievement that required comprehensive testing and prototyping. The end result of innovative engineering thinking is a chair that mimics the look of a sculpted piece of shrubbery.
