Job Description 

Shea+Latone, a small product development consultancy serving the furniture industry, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for full-time employment within its test lab and office.  We are located in a unique historic building with parking in East Greenville, PA. Primary Responsibilities

  • Sets up test stands and test samples in accordance with lab and regulatory standards
  • Performs testing in accordance with lab and regulatory standards
  • Assists in test stand hardware and software development, fabrication, and implementation
  • Develops and executes test procedures for product benchmarking and validation based on both standardized regulatory tests (primarily BIFMA) and customer needs
  • Designs, fabricates and/or repairs testing equipment as needed using Solidworks and shop tools
  • Participates in the maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025 including performing calibrations and conducting internal audits
  • Analyzes and interprets testing data
  • Performs FEA on virtual components and assemblies
  • Performs calculations for engineering analysis of virtual components and assemblies
  • Producing clear and effective reports that meet the prescribed format
  • Work with data acquisition equipment (National Instruments hardware and software)
  • Communicate with clients to determine needs and function of test plans
  • Troubleshoot equipment to solve problems
  • Analyzes and develops part designs for various manufacturing processes and materials including but not limited to injection molding, gas-assist injection molding, co-molding and overmolding, urethane casting, metal alloy die-casting, metal fabrication, sheet forming, and additive manufacturing
  • Engineering support and documentation including part and assembly drawings in Solidworks

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Experience with National Instrument Hardware and Veristand software
  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025
  • Pneumatic systems experience
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software a plus
  • Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) or similar software experience
  • Familiarity with PLC’s and programming is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, including clearly conveying technical details to audiences from other disciplines and languages
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a larger team
  • Empathy and appreciation for other design and engineering disciplines
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency at multi-tasking and high attention to detail
